Loaded with goods such as 3D printers and game controller accessories, the first China-Europe freight train for e-commerce in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) departed from Shenzhen on April 27. The train will travel through the Alataw Pass and reach Budapest, Hungary, in 15 days.

This new rail service, operating one or two times per week, provides a reliable and cost-effective logistics solution that complements traditional sea and air freight. It will enhance trade between the GBA and Europe, offering a faster and more efficient route for cross-border e-commerce.

Sun Lu, general manager of DMTRANS INTERNATIONAL LIMITED, stated that the GBA, as a major source of cross-border e-commerce goods, will benefit from this new logistics route. "Compared to traditional methods like sea and air freight, the China-Europe Railway Express offers advantages in efficiency, cost, and suitability for small-batch, time-sensitive shipments."

To ensure the train operates smoothly, Shenzhen Customs has implemented a 24/7 customs clearance service. "We've established dedicated teams to expedite customs procedures, allowing for quick clearance and shipment dispatch," said Deng Xiaopeng, head of the Transport and Logistics Monitoring Section at Shenzhen Customs. Looking ahead, Shenzhen Customs will continue to optimize customs processes, further facilitating the development of cross-border e-commerce in the region.
